The Tommies failed to score in final regular season home game
ST. PAUL, Minn. – St. Thomas men's hockey (18-10-4, 15-6-3) could not find the back of the net against the visiting Augustana Vikings (20-10-4, 14-8-4) on Saturday night at Lee & Penny Anderson Arena. Nine St. Thomas seniors were honored post game for senior night.
The Tommies had two power plays in the first period but came up empty on both opportunities at 6:29 and 11:53. They also killed off a penalty at 14:33 to send the game into the first intermission deadlocked at zero. Senior, Aaron Trotter made a game-high nine saves in the opening frame.
Augustana scored the game's first goal at 6:06 in the second period and held that margin until 13:35 of the third period when a Tommie turnover led to the Viking's second goal. They capitalized again at 15:39 and scored into the empty net at 19:21.
The Purple offense could not solve net minder Josh Kotai despite out shooting Augustana 28-22. They were 0-4 on the power play and 2-2 on the penalty kill. Their final power play of the night came at 4:49 and led to one shot on net and one hit pipe by Hayes Hundley.
