Baseball falls to Abilene Christian in season opener

Recchio records lone RBI
ABILENE, TEXAS – The St. Thomas baseball team fall 7-1 in Friday afternoon's season opener. Tanner Recchio recorded the lone RBI for the Purple. Four different Tommies tallied hits in the loss.
Scoring Summary:
After two straight innings without a hit on either side, the Tommies got on the board first in the top of the third inning after Adam Puder reached on a single up the middle and came around to score on Tanner Recchio's RBI infield single.
Abilene Christian then knotted the game at one in the bottom of the fifth, before taking a 2-1 lead on the bottom of the sixth off an RBI single. The Wildcats then pushed two more across in the bottom of the seventh after a bases loaded walk, and an error. ACU then scored two in the bottom of the eighth off a bases loaded walk and fielder's choice to take the 7-1 lead.

St. Thomas continues its series against Abilene Christian Feb. 14-15 at Crutcher Scott Field at Bullock Brothers Ballpark in Abilene, Texas.
