St. Thomas defeats Bemidji State to earn first win of 2026

Bartz tallied the game winner late in the third
ST. PAUL MINN. - The St. Thomas Tommies (9-12-0, 5-10-0) score late in the third to down the Bemidji State Beavers (5-13-3, 2-12-1) 2-1 in the first game of 2026. Nora Sauer scored the first of the game and Rylee Bartz scored the game winner with under a minute to play.
Dani Strom recorded 17 saves in net in her fifth game of the season.
Scoring Summary:
First Period: The Tommies got on the board first off the stick of Nora Sauer, her third of the season. Assists were credited to Ellah Hause and Cara Sajevic. The Purple tallied 10 shots to the Bemidji state seven.
Second Period: Bemidji State knotted the game at one four minutes into the period. The game remained tied the rest of the way. The Tommies outshot the Beavers 9-6 in the period.
Third Period: The third period was tied at one for the majority of the period until Rylee Bartz out the Tommies ahead with under a minute remaining in the contest. The assist came of the stick of Madison Brown.
Up Next
The Tommies will be back at Lee & Penny Anderson Arena on January 10th for the final game of the series with the Beavers. Puck drop is slated for 2 p.m.
