Johnny Tauer Championship Basketball Camps open to register

ST. PAUL, Minn. – St. Thomas men's basketball head coach Johnny Tauer announced the program's 2026 summer youth camp schedule, highlighted by multiple day camps and an overnight experience on the St. Thomas campus.

2026 Camp Schedule
Day Camps ($350)
- June 8-12 (Grades 4-9)
- July 6-10 (Grades 4-9)
- July 27-31 (Grades 4-9)
- August 3-7 (Grades 4-9)
- August 10-14 (Grades 4-9)
Overnight Camp
- June 21-24 (Grades 5-9)
- Commuter Camp: $395
- Residential Camp: $475
This will be Coach Tauer's 31st year of summer basketball camps at St. Thomas. He is currently in his 15th season as Head Coach of the Tommies and has led the program to sustained success through its historic transition from Division III to Division I, excelling as a top mid-major program nationally.
Since joining Division I in 2021, the Tommies have averaged over 18 wins per season, highlighted by 19 wins over each of the past three seasons (including 20 wins in 2023-24 and 24 in 2024-25) and a trip to the 2025 Summit League Tournament title game. The Tommies are on a Division I era record eight-game winning streak with 14 total wins in 2025-26. St. Thomas is currently ranked No. 21 in the Mid-Major Top 25 Poll by CollegeInsider.com and is the highest ranked Summit League team in the NET Rankings at 115, ahead of nine Power Five schools.
Coach Tauer was inducted into the St. Thomas Athletic Hall of Fame in 2001. As a student-athlete, he was an All-MIAC player, first-team All-West Region, and Academic All-American, leading the 1994-95 Tommies to a school-record 27-0 start and an MIAC championship with a 20-0 record. As a coach, he held the highest winning percentage in the nation at the Division III level before St. Thomas' transition to Division I in 2021. Tauer holds a doctorate in social psychology with an emphasis on motivation, providing a unique blend of athletics and academics that shapes his coaching and camp philosophy.
Coach Tauer's camps emphasize fundamental basketball skills, along with discipline, work ethic, mental toughness, and teamwork in a fun and engaging environment.
