St. Thomas Women’s Soccer and Northern Illinois face off in home opener

Tommies and Huskies face off during week two at home
ST. PAUL, MINN. -- After spending week one on the road, the Tommies are set to take on Northern Illinois for the first home game of the 2025 season. The Northern Illinois Huskies posted a 9-5-5 record during the 2024 season and are 1-1 thus far into the 2025 season. The Purple went one and one during week one, opening the season with a dominate 5-0 victory over Viterbo before falling 3-0 in a hard-fought battle against Minnesota.
Career Week
Three Tommies recorded career firsts during the first two games of the 2025 season.
Graduate student Olivia Rowe tallied 13 saves against Minnesota, beating her previous career high of nine.
Graduate transfer Mackenzie Jacobson recorded her first career brace (2 goal game) against Viterbo.
Freshman Georgie McNeil made the most of her debut by scoring her first career goal against Viterbo.
Home Opener Reminders
- Admission is free at South Field all season long.
- Cashless concessions are available for the 2025 season.
- Visitor parking is available in the Anderson Parking Facility on South Campus.

Scouting the Huskies
The Northern Illinois Huskies are 1-1 on the season after dropping the season opener 0-2 to Marquette and then defeating DePaul 1-0.
The Huskies return two of their top goal scorers from last season. Tyra King who scored eight on the year, and Kelsi McLaughlin who added four.
NIU is led by fourth year head coach Michael O'Neill. He came to NIU after spending eight seasons at Saginaw Valley State, where he led the cardinals to the NCAA Tournament.
