ST. PAUL, Minn. -- The University of St. Thomas will enshrine four individual former student-athletes and one team into the school's Athletics Hall of Fame later this Fall.
 
The class that spans between 33 years will have an induction ceremony and dinner on Friday, Oct. 3 before the Hall of Fame Wall unveiling and a halftime recognition at Tommie Football's Homecoming game on Saturday, Oct. 4.
 
The 2025 inductees represent six different Tommie sports programs:
- Denise Angelo '92 (Women's Track & Field 1988-91)
- Curtis James '13 (Football 2008-12)
- Kelly Foley '15 (Volleyball 2011-14)
- Grant Shaeffer '17 (Men's Basketball 2013-17)
- 1984-85 Men's Cross Country and Track & Field
 
Ceremonies
The 2025 Hall of Fame dinner and induction event will be held in the James B. Woulfe Alumni Hall on Friday, October 3. The inductees will also have their names unveiled on the Hall of Fame Wall on the second floor of the Anderson Athletic & Recreation Complex on Saturday, October 4 at 12 p.m. and will be celebrated during halftime at the Tommies' home football game against Drake, with kick-off scheduled for 1 p.m. at O'Shaughnessy Stadium & Palmer Field.

St. Thomas inducted Hall of Fame members every three years since its first induction class in 1974. The inductions and ceremonies shifted to an annual selection process starting with the 2022 class.
 
The overall Tommie Athletics Hall of Fame now includes 232 individuals and six teams.

2025 St. Thomas Athletics Hall of Fame Inductees
Denise Angelo, Women's Track & Field (Class of 1992)
Three-time NCAA national champion in the 4x400-meter relay and two-time All-America Honorable Mention in the 400-meter hurdles and heptathlon… eight-time conference champion and 27-time All-Conference performer in the 100m dash, 400m dash, 800m run, 55-meter hurdles, heptathlon, pentathlon, long jump, high jump, sprint medley relay, and 4x400-meter relay… named Most Valuable Athlete in 1991 and served as team captain in both 1990 and 1991… received the Team Link Award in 1991… graduated as the program record holder in both the pentathlon and heptathlon.
 
Curtis James, Football (Class of 2013)
Two-time All-American offensive lineman, including unanimous honors in 2012… named First-Team All-MIAC in both 2011 and 2012… winner of the 2012 Rimington Award as Division III's top center and a finalist for the 2012 Gagliardi Trophy… helped St. Thomas football post a 50-5 overall record during his career… set a program record with 54 career games played… blocked for 42 individual 100-yard rushing performances over his final four seasons.
 
Kelly Foley, Volleyball (Class of 2015)
Part of 2012 NCAA national championship team that was inducted into the Tommie Athletics Hall of Fame in 2022… a four-time MIAC champion… three-time All-America honoree and three-time MIAC Player of the Year (2012, 2013, 2014)… named Capital One Academic All-America in both 2013 and 2014… four-time All-MIAC and three-time Academic All-MIAC selection… earned National Freshman of the Year honors and was voted 2011 MIAC Rookie of the Year… finished career with 1,644 kills and a .358 attack percentage over four seasons.
 
Grant Shaeffer, Men's Basketball (Class of 2017)
Played in 112 career games and was a key contributor on four NCAA tournament teams, including the 2016 national champions… finished career with the second-most assists in program history (371), just 16 shy of the school record… a two-time All-MIAC honoree and 2017 MIAC Player of the Year… named Third-Team NABC Division III All-America and First-Team NABC All-West Region in 2016-17 after starting 24 games and averaging 16.3 points, 4.6 assists and a 2.0 assist-to-turnover ratio… shot 48.4 percent from the field, 38.0 percent from 3-point range and 76.5 percent from the free-throw line, with nine 20-point games and two 10-assist performances as a senior… started all 33 games in 2015-16 and scored 481 points (14.6 ppg) to help Tommies win the NCAA title… averaged 18 points and three assists while shooting 84.6 percent at the line (33-of-39) during the team's 6-0 NCAA playoff run, playing 118 of 120 minutes in wins over No. 1 Augustana, No. 4 Christopher Newport and No. 2 Benedictine as a junior… named All-MIAC Honorable Mention in 2014-15 after averaging 10.5 points in 28 games… played in 27 games as a freshman in 2013-14 and led all rookies in minutes (14.1 per game), scoring 129 points and earning MIAC All-Freshman Team honors.
 
1984-85 Men's Cross Country/Track & Field Teams
1984 men's cross country NCAA team champions — the first national title in St. Thomas Athletics history… team of eight runners won both the MIAC and NCAA Region meets, with Pete Wareham claiming individual titles at both… three All-Americans at nationals: Wareham, Tom Faust and Nick Manciu… followed up by winning the 1985 NCAA Indoor Track and Field team championship behind nine All-America performances… program's first MIAC indoor team title… three indoor program records set: Neal Guggemos in triple jump (46-7), Rich Harkwell in 400 meters (49.6), and Chris Unger in 600 meters (1:13.0)… seven MIAC event champions: Guggemos (long jump, triple jump), Harkwell (400), Unger (600), Mike Murray (pole vault), Addison Kilibarda (1,000), and John Bielinski (5,000)… national meet All-Americans included Guggemos (3rd, long jump), Paul Woodward (6th, long jump), Murray (3rd, pole vault), Dave Knezovich (2nd, shot put), Bryan Bennett (3rd, shot put), Dave McKeag (5th, shot put), Faust (3rd, 5,000), Wareham (5th, 5,000), and Bielinski (6th, 5,000).
