Baseball earns 10-7 win over Milwaukee

Fritcher and McNellis post three hits, combine for five RBI against the Panthers

ST. PAUL, Minn. --   St. Thomas baseball hosted Milwaukee in game one of a two-game non-conference midweek series.  St. Thomas (23-20 overall, 16-8 Summit) gained an early five-run advantage on Tuesday afternoon. Holding the lead the entirety of the contest, the Tommies defeated Milwaukee (17-30 overall, 12-11 Horizon) by a score of 10-7 at Koch Diamond.
 
The Tommies opened the non-conference match up posting a five-run first inning. Alex Hendrickson, Ben Vujovich and Easton Fritcher all recorded doubles in the first inning, as Lucas McNellis and Adam Puder each posted a 2-RBI opening frame.
 
After Milwaukee posted its first run of the game, St. Thomas followed up with a three-run third inning, led by Fritcher's second home run of the season.
 
The Panthers posted a five-run sixth frame, adding one in the seventh to cut the Tommies' lead to 8-7. St. Thomas responded with a pair of runs, extending the lead once again to 10-7.
 
Holding the three-run advantage the remainder of Tuesday's game, St. Thomas defeated the Panthers in the series opener.
 
Easton Fritcher recorded three hits, three runs and three RBI against the Panthers.  Lucas McNellis went 3-for-3, tallying two runs and two RBI.
 
Picking up his first collegiate win, Chris Petersen (1-0) allowed one hit, totaling four strikeouts over 5.0 innings on Tuesday.
