Avery Wukawitz named Summit League Peak Player of the Week

Wukawitz hit her ninth home run of the season, a DI program record

ST. PAUL, Minn. – Avery Wukawitz led the Tommies (33-17 overall, 14-4 Summit League) to a series win over the North Dakota State Bison this weekend to lock up a share of the Summit League regular season championship for the first time in program history. The junior has been named the Kwik Star Summit League Peak Player of the Week after recording a 1.736 OPS in three games.
 
Wukawitz is the fourth Tommie to receive a weekly conference honor this season, a program record. This is Avery's first time being named Summit League Player of the Week. 
 
The Woodbury, Minnesota native played in all three games this weekend and slashed .600/.636/1.100 with six hits in 10 at-bats. She scored five runs and brought home three RBI. Two of her six hits went for two bases, and one left the field as her ninth home run of the season. The center fielder led the Tommies in homers this season and set a new single-season program record. She also stole four bases on four attempts. 
 
Avery finished top-10 in Summit League: batting average (8th, .358), on-base percentage (9th, .435), slug. (5th, .630), OPS (5th, 1.065), runs (1st, 46), hits (4th, 58), doubles (8th, 11), triples (3rd, 3), home runs (2nd, 9), RBI (8th, 32), total bases (3rd, 102), and stolen bases (2nd, 19th) this season.
