The two-way star shined at the plate and in the circle against Kansas City
ST. PAUL, Minn. – Ella Cook led the Tommies (21-7, 3-0) to their first Summit League sweep of the season against the Kansas City Roos with outstanding production at the plate and in the circle. She has been named Summit League Peak Performer of the Week.
This is the second time that the Iowa City native has received the Peak Performer of the Week, she also earned the Peak Pitcher of the Week earlier this season. She is the first Tommie to receive both honors during their career, let alone the same season.
Cook went 6-11 and slashed .545/.583/1.364 with one double, one triple, and two home runs for 15 total bases to lead the Tommies. She scored four runs and brought home five. The redshirt senior walked once and did not strike out.
She also tossed 8.2 innings and allowed a 1.62 ERA with a .172 BAA, nine strikeouts, four walks, and a complete game win, once again proving that she is the best two-way player in the Summit League.
On the hitting side, Cook is top-10 in the Summit League in: batting average (.353 – 10th), slugging percentage (.753 – 4th), OPS (1.165 – 6th), triples (2 – T-4th), homeruns (8 – T-4th), RBI (31 – 3rd), and total bases (64 – T-6th).
