Baseball falls to Northern Colorado in series opener

Roder records three hits, three RBI in 16-10 loss to the Bears
After a scoreless first inning, Northern Colorado was the first on the board at its home field. Adding a second run in the fifth frame, the Bears doubled its lead before St. Thomas posted a four-run sixth frame.
Led by Joe Roder's fifth home run of the season, the three-run homer gave the Tommies the 4-2 advantage.
Matthew Maulik's RBI sacrifice fly in the seventh inning then extended St. Thomas' lead to three runs. However, the Bears quickly responded, posting three runs in the bottom of the frame to tie the game at 5-5.
After the Tommies posted a four-run top of the eighth, the Bears recorded 11 runs in the inning, regaining the lead. Holding the 16-10 advantage, Northern Colorado defeated the Tommies in the series opener.
Brigs Richartz and Joe Roder each recorded multi-hit games, as Roder and Matthew Maulik combined for six RBI against the Bears.
