Baseball set for final series of 2025 season

The Tommies look to clinch back-to-back Summit League titles
ST. PAUL, Minn. – The St. Thomas baseball is set for the final weekend of the 2025 season. The Tommies will travel to Greeley, Colo. for a three-game series against Northern Colorado from May 15-17. Remaining on top of Summit League standings, the Tommies look to claim their second straight Summit League title. St. Thomas enters the final weekend with a 1.5-game lead on Oral Roberts.

Last Time Out
The Tommies hosted North Dakota State in a three-game Summit League Series. St. Thomas swept the Bison over the weekend, claiming the season-series victory for the first time against North Dakota State.
Remaining on top of the Summit League Standings with one weekend to play, St. Thomas holds a 19-8 record in conference play.
Next up for the Tommies
• St. Thomas baseball is on the road to Greeley, Colo. The Tommies are set to face Northern Colorado in a Summit League series from May 15-17.

In his 16th season with St. Thomas, Chris Olean has totaled an overall record of 410-255-1 (338-148-1 in NCAA Division III) since being named the head coach prior to the 2010 season. Olean hit the 400-win milestone against Northern Colorado on April 5.
Tommie Leaders
•In 47 games played, Sophomore Tanner Recchio paces the Tommie offense in batting avg. (.331), hits (60), runs (45), and stolen bases (29). Recchio leads the Summit League in stolen bases and runs scored.
• Riane Ritter leads the Tommies' starters with a 3.72 ERA, totaling 58 strikeouts and holding opponents to a .229 batting avg. over 58.0 innings of work. Marcus Kruzan holds an 8-1 record, leading the Summit League in wins.
Tommie Offense
The Tommies lead the Summit League in six offensive categories, including: batting avg. (.229), runs (320), doubles (100), RBI (301), SLG% (.447) and stolen bases (62).
Look Back at 2024
Last season, St. Thomas won its first Summit League championship in the DI-era. The Tommies finished with a 22-24 overall record (16-10 Summit League).
St. Thomas Baseball earned eight honors on the 2024 All-Summit League Teams, including seven returners: Max Moris (First Team), Brigs Richartz (First Team), Jacob Mrosko (Second Team) Evan Esch (Second Team), Matthew Maulik (Second Team) Tanner Recchio (Second Team), and Joe Roder (Honorable Mention).

• St. Thomas was selected to finish second in the Summit Preseason Poll.
Leading the Pack
• Chris Olean begins his 16th season with St. Thomas in 2025. He has totaled an overall record of 410-255-1 (337-148-1 in NCAA Division III) since being named the head coach prior to the 2010 season.
• Olean is a three-time NCAA DIII Region Coach of the Year and closed out its DIII era by winning championships in the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) and region en route to a national runner-up finish and 37-10 record.
• During the last 12 DIII seasons the Purple won eight MIAC Championships, capped by third-place national finishes in both 2012 and 2014, in addition to the runner-up finish in 2021.
• Olean mentored seven DIII All-American pitchers. He was voted MIAC and Midwest Region Coach of the Year in 2012, 2013, and 2021. In addition, Olean works with the Tommie pitching staff, which was a perennial top-10 group in DIII baseball.
