Baseball completes sweep of Northern Colorado, defeats the Bears 9-7

Richartz grand slam lifts the Tommies to victory on Sunday
ST. PAUL, Minn. – St. Thomas baseball completed its series against Northern Colorado on Sunday afternoon. Down early in game three of the weekend, St. Thomas (16-10 overall, 10-1 Summit) completed its comeback bid to defeat Northern Colorado (8-21 overall, 3-10 Summit) at Koch Diamond.
Northern Colorado gained the early lead in the series finale, posting four runs over the opening two frames. Adding two in the fifth, the Bears held the 6-0 lead through five.
St. Thomas tallied a three-run sixth frame, led by a 2-RBI double by Ben Vujovich. Joe Roder then recorded an RBI-double, sending Vujovich home. Cutting Northern Colorado's lead in half, the Tommies went into the seventh down 6-3.
In the eighth, St. Thomas recorded a six-run inning, gaining its first lead of the game. A Brigs Richartz grand slam then put the Tommies up 9-7 headed into the final frame of the weekend.
Back-to-back strikeouts from Max Skilbeck ended the game, lifting the Tommies to a sweep of Northern Colorado on Sunday.
