Tommies secure 5-3 win over Northern Colorado
ST. PAUL, Minn. – St. Thomas baseball continued its series against Northern Colorado on Saturday. In the Summit League matchup, St. Thomas (15-10 overall, 9-1 Summit) earned a victory over Northern Colorado (8-20 overall, 3-9 Summit) at Koch Diamond.
Coach Chris Olean earned his 400th career win as a Tommie in the 5-3 victory over the Bears.
Northern Colorado opened scoring on Saturday, tallying a run in the first and second frame and taking the early 2-0 lead.
Down 3-1 going into the sixth, St. Thomas posted a three-run frame to take its first lead of the afternoon.
With his third hit, second double and second RBI of the game, Joe Vos extended the Tommies' lead to 5-3 through eight.
Walker Retz (4-0) totaled four scoreless innings and four strikeouts over 7.0 innings.
Kody Dalen did not allow a hit through 2.0 frames, posting three strikeouts against the Bears.
