Tommie Softball takes on the Drake Bulldogs in Kansas City

3/7/2025 10:25:00 AM | Softball

St. Thomas will play Drake three times in two days at the home of the Kansas City Roos

ST. PAUL, Minn. – Riding the wave of confidence and positivity that a win over a crosstown rival and a 5-0 weekend brings, Tommie Softball (11-7) is geared up to play three games against the Drake Bulldogs (4-10) on a neutral site in Kansas City.

The Tommies are off to their best start in program history with an early-season run differential of +34 and are currently riding a program-best six-game win streak. They have three qualified hitters with an OPS over 1.000 (Ella Cook, Cassidy Carby, and Avery Wukawitz) and do not have a qualified hitter with an OPS below .883. As a whole, the offense is slashing .321/.423/.506, all three numbers would be program records if the season ended today.

St. Thomas' pitching staff has been considerably better as well to start the 2025 campaign. The four-pitcher staff has combined for a program-best (by two whole runs) 3.35 ERA, and each has pitched one complete game shutout. Keira Murphy recorded the program's first no-hitter in five innings of work against Wagner last weekend.
