Four Tommies earn Academic All-District recognition

ST. PAUL, MINN. – The postseason honors continue to roll in for the University of St. Thomas women's basketball team. After another historic season at the Division I level, four Tommies received Academic All-District honors from the College Sport Communicators. Seniors Jade Hill (Minneapolis, Minn. / South), Phoebe Frentzel (Pewaukee, Wis. / Arrowhead) and Jordyn Lamker (Maple Grove, Minn. / Maple Grove) along with junior Amber Scalia (Stillwater, Minn. / Stillwater) were named to the organization's Academic All-District team Tuesday afternoon, while Hill advanced to the Academic All-America bracket.
In order to be considered for Academic All-District honors, student-athletes must be nominated by a member of their institutions athletic communications/sports information staff and attain certain academic and athletic standards. Student-athletes must play in at least 50% of contests in a given season and maintain a cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 3.5 or higher. All four representatives from St. Thomas met this standard with Hill advancing to the national ballot. Members of the Academic All-America team will be announced in April.
St. Thomas 2024-25 CSC Academic All-District Honorees:
Jade Hill (Sr.; Guard; Minneapolis, Minn. / South)
Hill was a named Academic All-District for the third time in her St. Thomas career on Tuesday after yet another stellar season with the Purple. The first three-time CSC Academic All-District honoree in the DI era, Hill maintained a 3.83 GPA while starting all 30 games for the Tommies in 2024-25. She closed the Summit League Tournament averaging 14.3 points and 4.6 assists per game and ranked top-5 in the conference in assists, assists per game and assists to turnover ratio throughout the 2024-25 season. Additionally, Hill closed her career ranked third all-time in career points (1558) and is the program record holder in career assists with 474.
Phoebe Frentzel (Sr.; Guard; Pewaukee, Wis. / Arrowhead)
Frentzel earned Academic All-District honors for the second time in her career Tuesday afternoon and did so after a breakout season for St. Thomas. A mechanical engineering major, Frentzel posted a 3.97 GPA while serving as one of Ruth Sinn's top bench players throughout 2024-25. Appearning in all 30 games with one start, Frentzel put up career numbers in 2024-25 and lead the team in steals (35) during the season. She scored a season-high 13 points in a win over Omaha on February 5 and pulled in a career-high eight rebounds in a win over North Dakota in late January. A defensive wizard, Frentzel was credited with 2+ steals in nine games throughout the year, including four in the season opening win over Milwaukee.
Jordyn Lamker (Sr.; Forward; Maple Grove, Minn. / Maple Grove)
Like Frentzel, Lamker became a two-time CSC Academic All-District honoree Tuesday afternoon having earned the honor as a sophomore in 2022-23. A key component to the Tommies success, Lamker appeared in all 30 games and made 11 starts, averaging 4.2 points and 3.2 rebounds per game. She was one of three St. Thomas student-athletes to rank in the top-10 in the Summit League in blocks throughout the regular season, tallying 17 in her fourth and final season with the Tommies. She scored 14 points in a loss to Idaho in early December, a season high, and pulled in nine rebounds in St. Thomas' final game against North Dakota. Lamker did all this while maintaining a 3.70 GPA and pursuing a degree in business administration with an emphasis in marketing.
Amber Scalia (Jr.; Guard; Stillwater, Minn. / Stillwater)
Scalia earned CSC Academic All-District honors for the second consecutive season, doing so while putting up monster numbers for the Tommies in 2024-25. An exercise science major, Scalia maintained a 3.55 GPA while shooting .414 from the floor, including a .368 clip from three point range throughout the season. Scalia also led the team and Summit League in free throw percentage at the conclusion of the regular season, converting 97 of 115 attempts (.843). As a member of the Tommies dominant backcourt, Scalia ranked second on the team with 88 assists and closed the regular season with an impressive 104 rebounds. She additionally became the third player in the last two seasons to score 1000 career points with St. Thomas, eclipsing the milestone in just 82 games with the program.
