Junior from Sheboygan, Wis., led St. Thomas in scoring in first season

BOSTON, Mass. -- Guard Miles Barnstable was announced as one of 30 finalists for the Riley Wallace Award, given to the most impactful transfer in division I college basketball, by CollegeInsider.com Wednesday afternoon.

Barnstable, a junior from Sheboygan, Wis., transferred to St. Thomas from University of Wisconsin-Whitewater and finished the season as a Summit All-League First Team (second ever for St. Thomas) and All-Newcomer Team (third ever for St. Thomas) selection. He led the Tommies with 14.7 points per game, totaling 501 for the second most by a Tommie in a single season during the DI era (Andrew Rohde in 2022-23, 531).

Barnstable ranked among the top 10 in the Summit League in scoring per game, 3-pointers made per game, steals per game and free throw percentage. He was also tied for 18th in blocks per game and led the Tommies in scoring in 13 games, going 11-2 in those game. Barnstable became the third Tommie to earn Summit League Peak Performer of the Week following his first two games in the Summit League schedule, scoring 20 points during the team's first win in Fargo, N.D., against North Dakota State before a career high 30 points in a win at North Dakota. He's the fifth Tommie to score 30 points in a game through the DI era, all of which have previously played in Division III.

Barnstable recorded the third most 20+ point game in a season (8) by a Tommie since 2021-22, ranking behind Rohde in 2022-23 with 12 and Riley Miller in 2021-22 with nine. Barnstable is the second Tommie with three consecutive seven rebound games since Parker Bjorklund did so to end the 2022-23 season.

The award is named in honor of the longtime Hawaii coach. During his coaching career at Hawaii, Riley Wallace welcomed many transfers into the program and became the winningest coach in program history. Wallace guided Hawaii to nine postseason appearances, including a school-record streak of four straight from 2001-04.

The recipient of the annual award is determined by a 10-member voting committee, which consists of current and former head coaches, as well as two senior staff members of collegeinsider.com.

The 2025 award will be announced in San Antonio, TX, site of the men's Division I Basketball Championship.
