St. Thomas softball plays two against the Iowa Hawkeyes
ST. PAUL, Minn. – St. Thomas softball has won nine games in a row, are currently 14-7, and are ranked 102 in the NCAA RPI (their highest ranking in program history). The Tommies look to continue their winning ways against the Iowa Hawkeyes (14-8) who rank 103 in the most recent RPI. The Tommies and Hawkeyes play two in Iowa City at Bob Pearl Field tomorrow, Wednesday March 11th at 3 & 5 p.m.
The Tommies are off to their best start in program history with an early-season run differential of +38 and are currently riding a program-best nine-game win streak. They have two qualified hitters with an OPS over 1.000 (Ella Cook and Cassidy Carby) and do not have a qualified hitter with an OPS below .800. As a whole, the offense is slashing .310/.409/.484, all three numbers would be program records if the season ended today.
St. Thomas' pitching staff has been considerably better as well to start the 2025 campaign. The four-pitcher staff has combined for a program-best (by two whole runs) 3.04 ERA, and each has pitched one complete game shutout. Keira Murphy recorded the program's first no-hitter in five innings of work against Wagner earlier this season.
