Tennis set to play weekend matches against Minnesota, Missouri

Tommies set for two matches at Baseline Tennis Center
ST. PAUL, Minn. -- St. Thomas Tennis is set for two weekend matches, facing Minnesota and Missouri. First serve is set for Feb. 8 at 4:00 p.m. against Minnesota, and 1:30 p.m. on Feb. 9 against Missouri. Both matches will take place at Baseline Tennis Center in Minneapolis.

The Tommie Tennis spring season will include 19 matches, including six at home. InnerCity Tennis in Minneapolis is the new home for St. Thomas Tennis this season.
St. Thomas officially opened the spring season on February 1, hosting Sioux Falls. Summit League play begins for the Tommies as they host North Dakota on February 28. The Purple will face all six Summit League opponents, consisting of three home and three away matches.
The Tommies will be road warriors the back half of the season, playing the final seven of nine matches on the road. During this time the Tommies will travel to Tennessee and Kentucky to play three non-conference opponents.
St. Thomas will compete against seven opponents for the first time, including Missouri, Milwaukee, Boise State and Air Force.
Tommie Core
The Tommies return six letter winners from a season ago and bring in four newcomers. Seniors leaders Marthe Degeorges, Shrichandrakala Tentu and Regina Talavera have combined for 29 singles wins and 25 victories in doubles play in their careers at St. Thomas.
Jannah ElNemr returns for her fifth and final season with the Tommies. ElNemr is the lone tennis player remaining from the Division III era and its NCAA top-10 and conference champion team of 2020-21. The graduate student has competed in 100 singles and doubles spring competitions over her four-year career.

Last Time Out
The St. Thomas tennis team opened its 2025 spring season with a 7-0 victory over Sioux Falls.
Earning the point in doubles action, the doubles pairings of Lily Olson and Shrichandrakala Tentu (6-0), and Ingrid Forsberg and Caroline Lindahl (6-1) defeated their Sioux Falls opponent last Saturday evening.
All six Tommies picked up wins in their singles match, lifting St. Thomas to a 7-0 victory:
1. Marthe Degeorges def. Chloe Siegfort (6-2, 7-5)
2. Caroline Lindahl def. Sofiya Janos (6-0, 6-0)
3. Anna Sidorenko def. Sydney Osburn (6-0, 6-0)
4. Jannah ElNemr def. Ella Hancock (6-4, 6-2)
5. Shrichandrakala Tentu def. Emily Thinnsen (6-2, 6-0)
6. Lily Olson def. Jaelyn Haler (6-0, 6-2)
Coach Carlson
Announced in May of 2023, the University of St. Thomas elevated Colby Carlson into the head coaching role for its women's tennis program. Carlson has a 20-year coaching resume in the state of Minnesota, including two seasons as an assistant coach at St. Thomas.
In Carlson's first season as head coach, the women's tennis team posted an 8-13 overall record. The eight wins set a Division I program record in single season wins for the Tommies.
