Tennis drops weekend matches to Minnesota, Missouri

Tommies complete weekend play at Baseline Tennis Center
MINNEAPOLIS -- The St. Thomas women's tennis team competed in set of weekend matches at Baseline Tennis Center. The Tommies faced Minnesota in the first match, hosting Missouri on Sunday afternoon.
Feb. 8 vs. Minnesota
St. Thomas opened the weekend with a match against Minnesota. In the fourth matchup between the two teams, the Gophers earned a 5-2 victory on Saturday afternoon.
In singles, Marthe Degeroges defeated Aiva Schmitz (6-4, 7-6) in the no. 1 singles spot. Shrichandrakala Tentu picked up her second singles victory of the season as well, defeating Deniz Turan, 6-3, 7-5.
Feb. 9 vs. Missouri
In the first match up between St. Thomas and Missouri, the Tigers took home a 7-0 victory against the Tommies.
Missouri opened the match earning the point in doubles action. Both teams continued to battle in singles play. Marthe Degeorges and Caroline Lindahl competed in tie-breaker sets against their Mizzou opponents, ultimately falling in two sets on Sunday afternoon.
