Musser and Tommies shutout Northern Michigan

Lucas Wahlin scored two for the second game in a row; Musser with 29 saves
MARQUETTE, Mich. – Fresh off his first career weekly honor, Carsen Musser made 29 saves on Friday night against the Northern Michigan Wildcats (1-18-0 overall, 1-10-0 CCHA) en route to his first career shutout. The Tommies (8-7-3, 5-3-2) took game one by a score of 2-0, Lucas Wahlin scored both goals.
Friday nights had been a bit of a monkey on the back for the Tommies this season; winless in their last five. That trend nearly continued after two full periods of scoreless hockey at the Berry Events Center. Lucas Wahlin put an end to the drought at 3:09 of the third period from Quinton Pepper and Chase Cheslock.
The senior captain doubled the Toms' lead on an empty netter at 19:58, again from Pepper and Cheslock.
Carsen Musser stopped every shot he faced: eight in the first. 11 in the second, and 11 more in the third. He has saved each of the last 52 shots he has faced dating back to the first period of last Saturday's game against Lake Superior State.
St. Thomas came up empty on the power play (0-3) but thwarted Northern's two man-advantage opportunities.
Quinton Pepper added his second two-point game of the season. Chase Cheslock's 15 assists this season are a career-best the best in the nation among defensemen.
