Tommies defeat Blue Devils for first win in Lee & Penny Anderson Arena

ST. PAUL, MINN. – The University of St. Thomas women's basketball team officially has its first win in Lee & Penny Anderson Arena. The Tommies earned their first home "W" of the 2025-26 season, defeating the University of Wisconsin-Stout 77-40 Sunday afternoon. With the win, St. Thomas improves to 2-6 this year.
QUICK HITS:
- Laura Hauge (West St. Paul, Minn. / St. Croix Lutheran) led the team in scoring, tallying a career-high 14 points on 4-7 shooting from three-point range. Alyssa Sand (Albany, Minn. / Albany) and Savannah McGowan (Plymouth, Minn. / Armstrong) added 13 and 11 points respectively.
- Addison Schliewe (Sheboygan Falls, Wis. / Sheboygan Falls) scored her first career points for the Tommies, closing the game with two points, one block and one steal.
- St. Thomas tied its season-high in points scored, as all 12 Tommies who participated scored Sunday afternoon.
SCORING SUMMARY:
First Quarter: Faith Feuerbach (Sycamore, Ill. / Sycamore) and Hauge set the tone for the first quarter, scoring back-to-back threes minutes into the game. Still, UW-Stout continued to hang around, closing the game to 18-17 with under one minute remaining in the first. The Tommies put on a clinic, both defensively and offensively, closing the quarter on a 6-0 stretch to secure a 24-17 lead.
Second Quarter: From that point on, St. Thomas just kept scoring, as the Tommies outscored the Blue Devils 18-14 in the second frame. Efficient shooting and a pair of free throws from Abbey Vallance (Sydney, Australia/ Tara Anglican School) helped St. Thomas extend its advantage to 42-31 at halftime.
Third Quarter: The Tommies held UW-Stout to just one field goal in the third frame, as Sand and McGowan sparked the St. Thomas' scoring run. In the end, the Tommies outscored the Blue Devils 17-5, allowing them to take a 59-36 lead into the fourth quarter.
Fourth Quarter: St. Thomas closed the game on an 18–4 surge, continuing its defensive lockdown and scoring in transition to seal the 37-point win. It is the Tommies largest margin of victory this season, as late points from the first years secured the 77-40 victory.
UP NEXT:
St. Thomas will return to action on Wednesday, December 5, as the team hosts the first ever Field Trip Day in Lee & Penny Anderson Arena. It also happens to the first game of the Big Sky / Summit Challenge, where the Tommies will host Northern Arizona University. Tipoff is scheduled for 11:00 a.m. in St. Paul, Minnesota.
