Individual wins highlight Tommies trip to Mankato

MANKATO, MINN. – The University of St. Thomas women's swim and dive program continued to make waves in its trip to Mankato, Minnesota over the weekend. The Tommies impressed in their three-way dual with Minnesota State and Concordia-St. Paul, with several individuals earning first place finishes Saturday afternoon.
WOMEN'S RESULTS: ST. THOMAS vs. MINNESOTA STATE / CONCORDIA-ST. PAUL
St. Thomas won eight individual races or events in Mankato on Saturday, with Maya Kelly (Lake Elmo, Minn. / Stillwater) and Brooke Gothard (Golden, Colo. / Wheat Ridge) winning multiple events for the Tommies.

St. Thomas will be back in action on Saturday, November 8, as the Tommies host St. Cloud State University. The dual is scheduled to start at 10:00 a.m. in the Anderson Pool.
WOMEN'S RESULTS: ST. THOMAS vs. MINNESOTA STATE / CONCORDIA-ST. PAUL
St. Thomas won eight individual races or events in Mankato on Saturday, with Maya Kelly (Lake Elmo, Minn. / Stillwater) and Brooke Gothard (Golden, Colo. / Wheat Ridge) winning multiple events for the Tommies.
- Kelly swept the diving events for the first time in her career with the Purple, claiming the top spot in the both the 1-meter and 3-meter competition. The first year won the 1-meter with a score of 219.15 before finishing first in 3-meter with a season best score of 274.65.
- Gothard also won two races, the 200 breaststroke and 200 IM, over the weekend. The first year swam the fastest time in the 200 breaststroke at 2:25.11 before winning the 200 IM with a time of 2:09.68.
- Katie Prunty (Wexford, Ireland / Colaiste Bride Enniscorthy) earned her first individual win as a Tommie on Saturday in the 1000 free thanks to a time of 10:58.61).
- Teammate Sophia Hayes (Naperville, Ill. / Central) won the 500 freestyle for the second consecutive meet thanks to her time of 5:18.18.
- Jordyn Davis (Cambridge, Wis. / Cambridge) once again won the 100 backstroke with a time of 57.22 while Emily Wooden (Chino Hills, Calif. / Ayala) won the 200 butterfly with a time of 2:12.15.
- Several other St. Thomas swimmers and divers earned top-five finishes Saturday. Click here for full results.
