JoJo Mitchell signs with Men’s Basketball as part of National Signing Day

Cretin-Derham Hall guard to join program in 2026-27
ST. PAUL, Minn. -- St. Thomas men's basketball had one addition on National Signing Day as Cretin-Derham Hall senior guard JoJo Mitchell signed to joined the program beginning with the 2026-27 season.
"We are thrilled to have JoJo Mitchell join us at UST!" Head Coach Johnny Tauer said. "He is a dynamic guard who has helped lead CDH to the state finals in 2025 and the state semis in 2024. JoJo plays for Jerry Kline, a former UST basketball player, where they have been the second winningest team in the state of Minnesota the past two years. JoJo is an outstanding shooter who is athletics, smart, and tough."

Mitchell is a letter winner at Cretin-Derham Hall (Minn.) under head coaches Jerry Kline, Joe Hutchins, Tony Yazbeck and Eric Bronaugh. A 6-foot-2 point guard and combo guard, he was a 2025 Mr. Basketball candidate, three-time All-Conference selection and 2024-25 All-Tournament Team honoree. Mitchell helped guide the Raiders to two state tournament appearances during his prep career and eclipsed the 1,000-point mark as a senior.
Mitchell is the son of Joseph Jr. and Laquita Mitchell and has three siblings: Malachi, Judah and Kash. His great uncle, Bobby Mitchell, played in the NFL for Cleveland and Washington from 1958–68. A member of the B Honor Roll, Mitchell plans to major in engineering with a minor in sports medicine at St. Thomas.
