Tommies set to open WCHA play against Mavericks for second straight year

ST. PAUL, MINN.- St. Thomas Women's Hockey is set to open WCHA play on the road against the Minnesota State Mankato Mavericks. The series is set to be played at Mayo Clinic HSEC on Oct. 10 and 11. Puck drop for Friday, Oct. 10 is set for 12:00 p.m. CT and 2:00 p.m. CT on Saturday, Oct. 11.

Last Time Out 

The Tommies earned the series sweep against the Lindenwood Lions. In game one, St. Thomas tallied four goals from all different players in the 4-3 victory. Rylee Bartz and Ilsa Lindaman each had multi-point games as they each tallied a goal and an assist.  

In game two of the series, Lindenwood jumped out to an early 1-0 lead, but the Tommies responded by when Teagan Kulenkamp scored the first goal of collegiate career to tie the game at one. Keara Parker then scored the game-winning goal with five minutes remaining to secure the 2-1 Tommie victory. Parker recorded a multi-point game as she also assisted Kulenkamp's goal.

Scouting the Mavericks  

The Mavericks have also started the season out 4-0 with series victories over RPI and Lindenwood.  

Sophomore defenseman Lauren Goldsworthy leads the Maverick offense with four goals this season. Freshman Zoe Lopez has also tallied three goals and two assists through the first four games.  

As a team, Minnesota State averages 3.8 goals per game, while only giving up 1.3.  

History with the Mavericks  

The Purple are currently 5-12 against the Mavericks overall. The Tommies last victory over Minnesota State came back on Oct. 12, 2024, where they secured the series sweep with a 3-2 victory. 

Road Warriors 

The St. Thomas Tommies have already recorded the most road victories in division one era with their 4-0 start on the road to begin the 2025-26 season. The Tommies will play have played eight road games before opening weekend at their new home Lee & Penny Anderson Arena Oct. 24 and 25.
