Women’s Hockey falls to #11 St. Cloud State on the road

Boreen, Boerger score on the power play in 5-2 loss
St. Cloud, Minn. – The St. Thomas women's hockey team traveled to St. Cloud State for game one against the No. 11-ranked Huskies. Scoring early in the series opener, St. Cloud State (13-9-5, 8-9-4 WCHA) held its lead for the full 60 minutes to defeat St. Thomas (7-18-2, 4-16-1 WCHA) at Herb Brooks National Hockey Center.
RECAP
St. Cloud State took the lead early in game one. Scoring in the second minute of play, the Huskies held the 1-0 lead through the remainder of the opening frame.
St. Cloud State totaled three second period goals, building on its first period lead.
The Huskies recorded two goals in the first 14 minutes of the middle frame before Chloe Boreen scored the Tommies' lone goal of the period on the power play. Responding quickly, the Huskies tallied a goal less than a minute later, taking the 4-1 lead into the final 20 minutes of play.
The Huskies once again scored early in the final period, posting their fifth and final goal of the game. With 10 minutes remaining in regulation, Ella Boerger recorded the Purple's second power play goal of the afternoon.
Neither squad scored in the final minutes of the game, as St. Cloud State defeated the Tommies 5-2 on Friday afternoon.
