Isabelle Lynch selected as “Athlete to Watch”
ST. PAUL, Minn. – The University of St. Thomas Women's Golf team was voted sixth of eight teams in the preseason Summit League Coaches' Poll, four votes from the top four. Isabelle Lynch was named the Tommies' "Athlete to Watch" for the Spring season.
The Summit League's reigning champion five times over, Denver, was selected to once again finish first with the most overall votes (49) and most first place votes (7). The Tommies, who finished tied for third place at the championship last season, finished four votes behind the team they tied, South Dakota State.
The Toms competed four times last fall and rebounded late after a slow start. They took ninth place at both the Badger Invitational and Lady Paladin Invitational before a sixth-place finish at the Loyola Invite. They repeated as champions at the Tommie Invite behind Kathryn VanArragon's individual title.
Isabelle Lynch was named the Tommies' "Athlete to Watch" with a 74.2 stroke average over 18 rounds last fall. That mark was tied for 5th in the Summit League and second best among Tommies behind only VanArragon's 73.6.
