Men’s Golf wrap up first two rounds of competitive Gopher Invitational

The Tommies finished the first two rounds at Windsong Farm Golf Club in 13th place.
MAPLE PLAIN, Minn. – Owen Rexing led the way for St. Thomas Men's Golf in the first two rounds at the highly competitive Gopher Invitational at Windsong Farm Golf Club. Seven of the 15 teams are from Power 4 conferences. Iowa (571, +3), Minnesota, Kent State, Nebraska, Marquette, and Iowa State round out the top six. The Tommies finished with a team score of 600 (+32).
Rexing shot two-over-par in the first round and four-over-par in the second. The junior sits in 37th place with 18 holes remaining. His 73-75—148 paced the Purple.
Matthew Armstrong came up two strokes and nine places short of Rexing. The senior shot 77-73—150, good for 46th place. He went six-over-par in the first and two-over-par in the second.
Sophomores, Zach Rouleau and Gavin Newkirk, each finished the first day tied for 53rd at 151 (+9). Rouleau went 74-77 while Garside added a team-high 80 before carding a team-low 71 (E). Matthew Garside rounded out the scoring with an 80-80—160, good for 78th place.
