Tommies travel for second invite of their fall slate
ST. PAUL, Minn. -- St. Thomas Women's Tennis continues fall competition at the Redbird Invite. The Tommies will compete this Friday, Saturday and Sunday Sept. 27-29 at the Gregory Street Tennis Courts.
2024 Fall Schedule
Three invitationals highlight the Tommies' early slate, taking place in Minnesota and Illinois.
The first of three invitationals for St. Thomas begins with the Gopher Invitational Sept. 20-22 hosted by Minnesota at Baseline Tennis Center. The following weekend, the Tommies travel to Normal, Ill. to compete at Illinois State's Redbird Invitational. Following a bye weekend, St. Thomas continues on the road with an exhibition match against Augustana on Oct. 12. This will be the first match up between Tommie Tennis and the Vikings.
To complete the fall portion of the 2024 schedule, the Tommies travel back to Illinois for the NIU Huskie Fall Indoor Invitational from Oct. 31- Nov. 2. The Purple will play at the Chick Evans Field House in DeKalb, Ill for the third year in a row.
Tommie Core
The Tommies return six letter winners from a season ago and bring in four newcomers. Seniors leaders Marthe Degeorges, Shrichandrakala Tentu and Regina Talavera have combined for 27 singles wins and 23 victories in doubles play in their careers at St. Thomas.
Jannah ElNemr returns for her fifth and final season with the Tommies. ElNemr is the lone women's tennis player remaining from the Division III era and its NCAA top-10 and conference champion team of 2020-21. The graduate student has competed in 98 singles and doubles spring competitions over her four-year career.
