The Tommie sophomore soared on the final day with a 68 (-4), matching single-round program record

GREENVILLE, S.C. – Kathryn VanArragon's seventh place finish led the way for the St. Thomas Women's Golf team that finished in ninth place out of the competitive 13-team field at the Lady Paladin hosted by Furman at their university golf course. The sophomore's third-round 68 (-4) was tied for the second lowest round in the entire field, bested only by second-place Averi Cline's extraordinary 64 (-8) on the final day. VanArragon tied her own St. Thomas program record for single-round low score on Sunday morning (Isabelle Lynch also shares the record).

The Tommies shot 296-307-292—895 (+31) across the three rounds, 10 strokes behind North Florida in eighth place and 20 strokes outside of the top five. Xavier won the event while shooting one stroke under par as a team. Augusta's Keira Gonzalez-McCarthy walked away with the individual title with a 68-70-70—208 (-8).

The Tommies' top finisher, VanArragon, recovered from a rocky opening round 74 (+2) with consecutive rounds below par on the second and third day, 71 (-1) and 68 (-4) for a three-round score of 213 (-3). The sophomore surged up six spots on the individual leaderboard on the final day into seventh place. She finished two strokes out of the top five and five strokes behind the winner. She began the day on the back nine with pars on seven holes and birdies on two. She added four birdies and two bogeys on the back nine. She recorded four birdies during the second round and two on day one for a tournament total of 12.

Emma Davies finished in 31st place as the Toms' second-highest finisher with a score of 71-78-76—225 (+9). Her first round 71 (-1) was her first round below par of the season. Her freshman teammate, Amelia Morton finished in 35th place at 73-78-75—226 (+10). Just like Davies, her first round was her best at +1.

Nicole Reineke was the final scoring golfer for the Purple and finished 52nd with a 78-80-73—231 (+15). The sophomore climbed 12 spots with her +1 on the final day.
