Krenc totals six saves against the Bulldogs on Sunday evening

SPOKANE, Wash. – The St. Thomas Men's Soccer traveled west for a Sunday evening match against the Gonzaga Bulldogs. The Tommies (1-1-0) were defeated in their first road match of the season by Gonzaga (2-0-0) at Luger Field, 6-1.

RECAP
Midway through the first half, the Bulldogs went on the attack, forcing a handball on the goal line from Gunnar Busch. Busch saved the goal but was shown a red card and Gonzaga capitalized on its penalty kick in the 20th minute.

After Gonzaga took the early lead, both teams would keep each other at bay for the final 25 minutes of the first half with each attack failing to pull ahead. Keeping the Bulldogs off the scoresheet the remainder of the half, Moritz Krenc totaled four saves in the first 45 minutes of play.

Early in the second half, Gonzaga added to its lead scoring back-to-back goals against the Tommies. However, with inside 30 minutes to go the Tommies scored from a corner kick, cutting into Gonzaga's lead.

After the Purple's lone goal of the match, the Bulldogs added a pair of goals, scoring their sixth in the final seconds of the game and ultimately defeating St. Thomas by a score of 6-1.

Both Chance Therrien and Cullen Connaker made their debut in Purple on Sunday evening.
