Baseball drops game two to the Mavericks

Nyrop finishes 3-for-4 with two RBI on Saturday evening

OMAHA, Neb. –  St. Thomas baseball continued its weekend series against the Omaha Mavericks on Saturday evening. The Tommies (19-23, 13-9 Summit) out hit Omaha in game two, however were defeated by the Mavericks (16-27-1, 14-11-1 Summit) at Tal Anderson Field.
 
The Mavericks came out to an early lead in game two, holding a 7-1 lead through four innings on Saturday evening.  
 
In the top of the fifth frame, Joe Vos recorded a two-run home run to cut Omaha's lead. For the seventh time this season, the Tommies recorded a multi-home run game as Max Moris started the eighth inning with a solo homer to left field.
 
However, the Mavericks held their lead the entirety of the game to defeat the Tommies 10-6.
 
Max Moris, Joe Roder, and Brigs Richartz recorded two hits against Omaha. Roder and Moris each added two runs and an RBI to finish game two against the Mavericks.  
 
Max Nyrop went 3-for-4, tallying a multi-RBI game for the second time this series.
 
The St. Thomas pitching staff combined for seven strikeouts. Zak Endres allowed two hits in three scoreless innings.
