Baseball opens series with 11-2 win over Omaha

Esch and Huhn combine for 10 Ks and seven scoreless innings in win over Mavericks
Omaha scored the first run in the opening inning on Friday evening. However, it was the Tommies the rest of the game in the 11-2 St. Thomas victory.
Down one run, St. Thomas quickly responded as Joe Roder and Max Nyrop both recorded their fifth home runs of the season the top of second inning.
After adding two runs in the third, Max Moris tallied the Toms third home run of the game to lead off the fifth frame.
St. Thomas totaled 11 runs, scoring in five of the games' innings, with five Tommies recording multi-hit games. Max Moris finished 3-for-5, scoring two runs and tallying two RBI.
Max Nyrop recorded two hits, two runs and three RBI in the St. Thomas victory.
Evan Esch (5-2) totaled five strikeouts and six scoreless innings, allowing four hits in 6.0 innings. Allowing one hit and no runs, Tucker Huhn tallied five strikeouts in the final 3.0 innings of the game.
