IOWA CITY, Iowa – St. Thomas baseball fell to Iowa in a Tuesday afternoon contest at Duane Banks Field. The Hawkeyes scored runs in five of the game's innings, defeating St. Thomas 9-3 in Iowa City.
RECAP
Iowa took the early lead, scoring the first run of the game in the bottom of the second inning and totaling seven runs through the first five innings.
With a single to right field in the top of the fourth inning, Zan Von Schlegell recorded the first hit of the game for the Tommies, however was left on base.
In the seventh inning, leadoff walk Von Schlegell scored the Tommies' first run of the game as Joe Vos tallied an RBI and his first career triple. The Purple added two more runs in the seventh, closing the Hawkeye's lead to 7-3.
The Hawkeyes regained the six run lead, scoring two runs in the eighth inning and ultimately defeating the Tommies 9-3.
Von Schlegell, Vos and Owen Bond accounted for St. Thomas' three hits and three runs while the team left six runners stranded through the game.

The St. Thomas baseball team travels to Chicago to play UIC in a four-game series. Game time is set for 4:00 p.m. on Friday, March 8, a doubleheader beginning at noon on Saturday, March 9, and 1:00 p.m. on Sunday March 10.
