Men's Hockey finishes second place in CCHA

The Tommies fell to the Huskies in game two but clinched second place in the conference.
HOUGHTON, Mich. – St. Thomas Men's Hockey (14-18-2, 12-11-1 CCHA) fell to the Michigan Tech Huskies (15-14-6, 12-10-2) 6-0 in game two of the final regular season series of the year.
GAME RECAP
The Tech Huskies got on top early and never looked back. They scored at 2:55 of the first period and added another just one minute and 21 seconds later.
The Huskies added two in the second and two more in the third. Their last goal came on the power play.
St. Thomas was 3-4 on the penalty kill and 0-4 on the power play. The Huskies outshot the Tommies 33-18.
Time in net was split nearly evenly between starter Jake Sibell and Aaron Trotter. Sibell made 12 saves on 16 shots faced and Trotter saved 15 of 17.
The Tommies clinched their highest CCHA regular season finish in program history with Bemidji State's 2-0 defeat over Minnesota State. St. Thomas finish the regular season with 39 points. Thirteen more points than last season and 25 more than their first season of Division I hockey.

The second-seed Tommies will host the seventh-seed Lake Superior State Lakers in the first round of the Mason Cup Playoffs next weekend. The first game in the best-of-three series will begin at 7:07 p.m. in Mendota Heights.
