The Tommies finished the first two rounds of the Jackrabbit Invitational in third place among 13 teams with Kathryn VanArragon and Niki Reineke nestled in the top-10.

BOULDER CITY, Nev. – Freshmen Kathryn VanArragon and Niki Reineke each finished out the second round under par and in the top-10 of the 76-golfer field to put the Tommies in third place out of 13 teams with one round still to come tomorrow at the Jackrabbit Invitational.

VanArragon rallied from a 74 (+2) first round with a tournament-best 68 (-4) in round two. One of three golfers to shoot a 68 on day one, the Blaine, Minn. native completed the day tied for fifth place while carding a 142 (-2), four strokes off the leader, Carly Strole of Grand Canyon. The first year birdied three of her first five holes on the front nine of round two and ultimately racked up eight birdies including one to finish strong on the 18thhole.

Reineke shot the most consistently of the Tommies on Monday. She finished the first round with a 72 (E) and followed that up with a 71 (-1). Her 146 (-1) on day one has her sitting tied for eighth place, five strokes out of a podium finish. The freshman birdied her first hole of round two and finished the round with three. She shot at or below par on 16 holes enroute to her one under finish.

St. Thomas' Isabelle Lynch finished day one tied for 16th place at 146 (+2), but also recovered after a frustrating first round with a phenomenal 70 (-2) in the second. Her second round rocketed her up 23 places after round one, second most among all competitors in the field. Lynch birdied four of her first seven and finished the round with two bogeys on the back nine.

Emma Davies was the final scoring golfer for the Toms and finished the day tied for 49th with a 154 (+10). Caroline Monty finished closely behind in 53rd placed and carded a 155 (+11). Monty improved on her first round by three strokes.

Quoting Coach Hanneman
"We had a bit of a slow start, but the team showed a ton of resiliency by bouncing back in round two. We had a great afternoon with three individual rounds under par."
