Senior outside hitter capped career with the department’s first ever honor
SIOUX FALLS, S.D. -- Senior outside hitter Lauren Galvin closed out her career with another honor as the Summit League announced her as its Peak Female Performer of the Month during November.
The award is the first Summit League Peak Performer of the Month given to a St. Thomas student-athlete, male or female. Oscar Cluff of South Dakota State men's basketball took the award on the men's side, while South Dakota volleyball outside hitter Lauren Medeck was selected as the Peak Female Newcomer of the Month and Denver men's soccer forward Keegan Kelly was named on the men's side.
Galvin, from Woodbury, Minn., was named to the Summit All-League Team in November after closing her career with back-to-back 23 kill matches, setting career highs, and finishing with 1,023 career kills. Tommie Volleyball went 4-1 last month which included a road win over previously unbeaten (RV) South Dakota State at 22-0 where she hit 16 kills with seven digs and two blocks.
Galvin totaled 14 digs with eight kills in a win at Kansas City and hit above .300 from the floor against both South Dakota, sweeping the regular season series over the eventual Summit League Tournament champions, and Oral Roberts to conclude the season. She added three aces, eight digs and two blocks against the Coyotes to total 27.0 points and recorded her eighth double-double of the season with 11 digs against the Golden Eagles. Galvin was named the Summit League Peak Performer of the Week following her performances over the final weekend.
