Women’s Hockey falls in overtime to #6 Clarkson at the Smashville Showcase

Parker scores twice and Strom tallies career-high 56 saves against the Golden Knights

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The St. Thomas women's hockey team faced #6 Clarkson in game one of the Smashville Showcase. Tied at 4-4 at the end of regulation, Clarkson (13-3-1, 5-1-0 ECAC) scored the game-winning goal late in the overtime period, defeating St.  Thomas (5-11-1, 2-9-1 WCHA) on Friday evening.
 
RECAP
Clarkson scored the first two goals in the opening period at the Ford Ice Center Bellevue. Keeping St. Thomas off the board during the first 20 minutes, the Golden Knights held the 2-0 advantage heading into the first intermission.

Scoring just 19 seconds into the second period, Keara Parker made it a one-goal contest. Midway through the middle frame, Parker added her second of the game, tying the game at 2-2.

However, Clarkson responded adding two goals of its own later in the frame to take the 4-2 lead into intermission.

Down by two goals, the Tommies had a power play opportunity with six minutes to play in regulation. Lauren Stenslie capitalized on the player advantage, bringing the game back within one goal.

Less than 15 seconds later, Sadie Lindsay scored the equalizer, knotting the game once again at 4-4.

With neither team able to score in the final five minutes of regulation, the Tommies went to overtime for the third time this season against a top 10-ranked opponent.  

Clarkson ultimately scored the game-winning goal with one second remaining in the overtime period, earning the 5-4 win over St. Thomas.  

Dani Strom tallied career-high 56 saves against the No. 6-ranked Golden Knights.
