Women’s Hockey drops series finale to #1 Wisconsin

Madison Brown scores twice in 5-2 defeat
MADISON, Wis. – The St. Thomas women's hockey team faced the top-ranked Wisconsin in game two of the WCHA weekend series. As the game went into the final 20 minutes as a one-score contest, Wisconsin (15-1-0, 11-1-0 WCHA) added two third period goals to defeat St. Thomas (5-10-1, 2-9-1 WCHA) on Saturday afternoon.
RECAP
Wisconsin was the first on the board, scoring early in game two at LaBahn Arena. After scoring in the first minute of the opening period, neither team found another goal as Wisconsin took the 1-0 lead into the first intermission.
Five minutes into the second period, Madison Brown tied the game at 1-1. However, the Badgers quickly responded scoring two goals of their own and regaining the lead.
Late in the middle frame Brown tallied her second of the game and ninth of the season, sending the game into the second period break as a one-score contest.
The Tommies outshot the Badgers 10-7 in the third period, but Wisconsin added two goals in the final 20 minutes, securing the 5-2 victory over the Tommies.
Dani Strom totaled 35 saves in game two against the Badgers, including 30 during the first 40 minutes this afternoon.

The Tommies travel to Tennessee to play in the Smashville Showcase over Thanksgiving weekend. St. Thomas is set to play Clarkson on Friday, Nov. 29, and Penn State or Merrimack the following afternoon.
