Women’s Hockey falls to #1 Wisconsin in game one at LaBahn Arena

Strom totals 37 saves against the Badgers
MADISON, Wis. – The St. Thomas women's hockey team faced the top-ranked Wisconsin Badgers in game one of a two game WCHA series. Scoring three-first period goals and taking the early lead, Wisconsin (14-1-0, 10-1-0 WCHA) held onto the advantage, defeating St. Thomas (5-9-1, 2-8-1 WCHA) by a score of 6-1 on Friday evening.
RECAP
Wisconsin opened scoring early in game one at LaBahn Arena. The Badgers extended their lead, adding two additional goals in the opening frame, taking the 3-0 lead into the first intermission.
Wisconsin had the lone power play opportunity of the game, scoring its third goal of the evening on the player advantage.
Both teams got on the board during the second period. Scoring for St. Thomas, Chloe Boreen tallied her fifth goal of the season with five minutes remaining in the middle frame.
Wisconsin posted two goals in the final frame, earning the 6-1 victory on its home ice.
Strom totaled 37 saves against the Badgers, including 16 during the final 20 minutes of play.
