MENDOTA HEIGHTS, Minn. – The St. Thomas women's hockey team opened the 2024-25 season welcoming the Post Eagles to Saint Thomas Ice Arena. With six Tommies scoring seven goals, St. Thomas (1-0-0) earned a shutout victory over Post (0-1-0) on Friday evening.

RECAP
St. Thomas was off to a fast start, taking the lead and scoring back-to-back goals early in game one. Keara Parker opened scoring for the season, as Madison Brown tallied the second goal for Purple just minutes later.

The Tommies continued to roll in the second period, adding two goals in the middle frame. Cara Sajevic scored five minutes into the period, as Maddie Jurgensen recorded her first of the season 10 minutes later. Linemate, Lauren Stenslie tallied an assist on both goals.

Both teams found themselves on the power play twice in the second, however neither was able to capitalize on the player advantage.

Early in the third period, Stenslie scored off a feed from Haley Maxwell, recording her third point of the game. Building on the momentum, Parker added her second of the night less than two minutes after Stenslie's goal.

Scoring the Purple's seventh and final goal of the game, freshman Chloe Boreen recorded her first goal in her collegiate debut.

Led by Stenslie, five Tommies recorded multi-point games including; Rylee Bartz, Sajevic, Parker and Boreen.

Totaling seven saves, Calla Frank earned her first shutout as a Tommie. St. Thomas out shot the Eagles 45-7 in the first meeting between the two squads.

Scoring seven goals in tonight's game, the Tommies have tied the program record for goals scored in a single game and have posted their largest margin of a victory in the DI-era.
