Women’s Hockey falls to #8/7 St. Cloud State, 3-1

Boreen scores lone goal, Strom makes 33 saves in Saturday afternoon defeat
ST. CLOUD, Minn. – The St. Thomas women's hockey team traveled to St. Cloud for game two of the weekend series. Scoring a goal in each frame, #8/7 St. Cloud State (7-1-2, 3-1-2 WCHA) defeated the Tommies (4-3-1, 2-3-1 WCHA) at Herb Brooks National Hockey Center.
RECAP
Scoring at the midpoint of the opening period, the Huskies were the first on the board in game two of the weekend. St. Cloud State tallied the lone score of the frame, taking the 1-0 lead into the first intermission.
Down by one goal at the start of the second frame, the Tommies had a power play chance just 30 seconds into the period. As the St. Thomas power play ended, the Huskies shifted momentum, adding their second goal of the afternoon.
The Huskies held the 2-0 lead through the remainder of the second period as Dani Strom totaled 24 saves through 40 minutes.
St. Cloud State tallied its third and final goal of the game five minutes into the final period at Herb Brooks National Hockey Center.
The Tommies went on three power plays in the third, including a five-minute player advantage to finish the game. With seconds remaining in the final period, Chloe Boreen scored the Tommies' lone goal on the power play. However, St. Cloud State ultimately earned the 3-1 victory on Saturday afternoon.
Dani Strom finished the game totaling a career-high 33 saves against the Huskies.
