Men’s Soccer drops Saturday Match against #12/7 Denver

Krenc records seven saves in 4-0 defeat
ST. PAUL, Minn. – The St. Thomas Men's Soccer team welcomed the Denver Pioneers to South Field. Scoring a pair of goals in each half, #12/7 Denver (9-2-4, 4-1-0 Summit) defeated St. Thomas (4-8-2, 1-5-0 Summit) on Saturday afternoon.
RECAP
St. Thomas kicked off the Saturday afternoon match on its home turf. Taking the early lead, Denver scored the first goal of the match in the 15th minute. Doubling their lead, the Pioneers scored late in the first off one of three corner kicks opportunities, taking the 2-0 lead into halftime break.
Denver added a pair of second half goals to extend its lead to 4-0, ultimately defeating the Tommies on South Field.
Gunnar Busch, Merrick Schaefer and Keegan James played all 90 minutes for the Tommies as Moritz Krenc totaled seven saves for the Purple.
QUOTABLE
"Dealing with injuries this afternoon that altered player combinations, but with no excuses we put in a good effort against a really good team," Head Coach Jon Lowery said. "We're really excited to spend one final week together this season and continue to grow."
