Women’s Tennis starts season strong, defeats Lindenwood and Marquette

The Tommies start the season undefeated with victories over the Lions (4-0) and Golden Eagles (4-3)
BLOOMINGTON, Minn.-- The St. Thomas women's tennis team opened their spring season on Sunday, facing Lindenwood and Marquette.
The Tommies defeated the Lions 4-0, and Golden Eagles 4-3, starting 2024 undefeated.
Match vs Lindenwood
St. Thomas started Sunday morning with a 4-0 non-conference win over Lindenwood.
The doubles pairings of Olivia Paradise and Yinong Ma (6-2), and Jannah ElNemr and Caroline Lindahl (6-1) earned wins in doubles play against Lindenwood.
Regina Talavera and Naisha Srivastav also competed in doubles, however, did not finish (2-4).
The Tommies secured the match victory by taking wins at No. 1-4-5 singles.
ElNemr (6-4, 6-4), Paradise (6-0, 6-1) and Ma (6-2, 6-0) earned wins in singles play to lift the Tommies over Lindenwood.
Match vs Marquette
In match two of the day, St. Thomas found its second victory over Marquette, 4-3.
The Tommies earned another pair of doubles wins from the duos of Paradise and Ma (6-2), and Srivastav and Tentu Shrichandrakala (6-3). The pair of ElNemr and Lindahl fell in their second doubles match of the day, 3-6.
In singles action, St. Thomas secured its second match win of the day after Ma defeated Marquette's Lara Kaiser in a tiebreak set (7-5, 2-6, 6-2).
Degeorges found a victory in the No. 2 singles spot (7-5, 6-3) and Srivastav earned the third singles win (6-2, 6-3) to help lift the Tommies to a match win over Marquette.

- In addition to her doubles wins, Ma earned two singles victories in the No. 5 spot.
- The St. Thomas women's tennis team is off to their best start of the season of the DI-era earning two wins in one day, starting 2024 2-0.

The St. Thomas Women's Tennis team is back in action on February 3rd, traveling to Bradley. The Tommies will continue on the weekend roadtrip, facing Valparaiso on February 4th.
