ST. PAUL, Minn. -- The University of St. Thomas Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) will be led through the 2023-24 academic year by its nine-member executive board.
The purpose of the advisory committee is to provide advice and guidance to athletics administrators, solicit student-athlete response to proposed NCAA legislation, suggest potential NCAA legislation, create a vehicle for student-athlete representation on campus-wide or conference-wide committees, and act as a liaison between student-athletes, faculty, administrators, and staff.
Volleyball senior Ellie Dammann will serve as SAAC president with men's swimming & diving senior Zach Upham as first vice president and women's basketball junior Jordyn Lamker as second vice president. Rounding out the nine-member executive board are football sophomore Will Burke (Director of Finance), men's basketball graduate student Brooks Allen (Treasurer), women's swimming & diving junior Grace Forsberg (Secretary), football fifth year Tommy Shelstad (Assistant Secretary), men's basketball sophomore Ahjany Lee (Director of Communications), and men's swimming & diving senior Julien Yung (Social Media Manager).
"We could not be more appreciative of our SAAC Executive Board for their dedication to the university, the athletics department, and their peers," said Deputy Athletics Director, Student-Athlete Services and SAAC advisor Jemal Griffin. "The time and energy they put into making the student-athlete experience special goes a long way in creating a collaborative culture between student-athletes and administration."
In addition to their duties on the St. Thomas SAAC Executive Board, Ellie Dammann and Julien Yung serve as the department's representatives to the Summit League and Grace Forsberg and Jordyn Lamker serve as representatives for the St. Thomas Student Government.
