St. Paul, Minn. -- St. Thomas Men's Soccer (0-3-1) returns home to face Chicago State in their 2023 home opener.

Last Time Out
The Tommies were scheduled to face the Stonehill Skyhawks in Boston on Sep. 11, however, due to weather preventing travel and competition, it was canceled with no reschedule date as of now.
The Tommies earned a 2-2 draw against North Florida on Monday, Sep. 4, after falling 7-0 at Stetson the previous Friday.
The 2-2 tie on the road against North Florida marked the Tommies' season high in shots (6) and points (6) to start the season.
Game one in Florida
Stetson struck first in this Friday evening contest, when a Hatter midfielder capitalized on his first shot on goal of the night. The Hatters continued producing offensive opportunities, putting their second of the night past the Tommies during the 29th minute of play and scoring their third goal 10 minutes later off a corner kick.
Stetson's offensive push continued as the second half started with a pair of goals in the first six minutes for the Hatters. Soon after, the Hatters would add two more tallies, making it a 7-0 contest.
Goalkeeper, Tucker Mann, subbed in for Moritz Krenc during the final 20 minutes of play. Krenc, starting in his third game in a row for the Tommies, made three saves during his time in net tonight. Mann added two more saves for the Tommies.
Offensively, the Tommies attempted three shots, able to put one on Stetson's goalkeeper with a shot by Dennis Mensah Jr.
Game two in Florida
The Tommie men's soccer team leaned on their defense early, as they defended all three of the Ospreys shot attempts and did not allow a shot on goal until the North Florida opened scoring as they capitalized on a penalty kick during the 37th minute of play.
Shortly after, the Tommies responded with offense of their own as Charlie Holton scored his first goal of the season just five minutes later.
The match continued to be back-and-forth during the second half. There were no shots on goal for either squad up until the midpoint of the second half, when the Ospreys produced their second goal of the night.
Just like earlier, the Tommies continued to compete and found a way to notch their second equalizing goal late in the game. The game-tying goal was netted by Faris Colic, with assists coming from Keegan James and Issac Eckroth.
Neither team was able to score in the remaining five minutes of the match resulting in a 2-2 tie.
Junior Jump
The St. Thomas juniors; Faris Colic, Charlie Holton, Keegan James, and Steevie Lamarre, are experienced Tommies that have been relied upon to drive the offense and play lockdown defense.
Faris Colic and Charlie Holton both scored their first goal of the season for the Tommies in the 2-2 draw against UNF on Monday, Sep. 4. Keegan James posted an assist on the game-tying goal by Colic.
Steevie Lamarre has started in all four games, recording 175 minutes at forward.
All four juniors have played in all four games for the Tommies so far this season.
Scouting the Cougars
