Game One Recap
The Tommies' 2023 campaign began with a strong effort on the road at Ryan Fieldhouse in Evanston, Ill. on Thursday Aug. 24. Ultimately, the Tommies fell short, losing 2-1 to the Wildcats of Northwestern.

The match between the Tommies and Wildcats remained tied 0-0 during the first half of play. During the scoreless first half, Northwestern posted three shots, two being on net.

Northwestern struck early in the second half when the Wildcats put one past Krenc during the 47th minute of play. Shortly after, the Purple began to push back, and the Tommie offense broke through with an unassisted goal by Oliver Bieleveldt.

The game remained tied at one a piece until the final minute of play when Northwestern's Weiss scored on his fourth shot on goal of the night. Weiss finished the game with four out of the five shots on goal for the Wildcats.

Game Two Recap
In the second game of the season for the Tommies, UIC's offense began early when the Flames put one past the Tommies' Mortiz Krenc on a penalty kick in the opening minute of play. The Flames continued to capitalize on their offensive opportunities when six minutes after their first goal, they scored the second of the afternoon.  After the second goal for the UIC, the Purple defense slowed the Flames push until the 42nd minute of play when UIC's Adres Lemus put the third goal of the afternoon past the Tommies.

Moritz Krenc defended six out of the nine shots on goal during the first 45 minutes of play and all three shots on net in the second half.
The Tommies recorded one shot on net during the first half.  During the second half the Tommies increased their scoring chances, recording three shots, and putting two on net. The Flames kept pushing, but the Tommie defense put up a brick wall, defending all nine shots and allowing only three on net.
