Men's Golf finishes well, takes sixth at Summit League meet

Lincoln, Neb. -- Tommie Men's Golf had a strong final day as it recorded the second-best team score in the field on Tuesday and closed with a sixth-place finish at the Summit League tournament.
Coach Matt Rachey's team improved two spots from its eighth-place conference finish in spring 2022 in year one of the D-I era.
St. Thomas started Tuesday's final round in seventh place out of 10 teams after Sunday and Monday rounds of 305 and 313. On Tuesday the Purple shot an 8-over-par 292 to finish at 910, six shots behind fifth-place Omaha and 10 strokes ahead of seventh-place South Dakota and South Dakota State.
Senior Matthew Raab shot one-over-par 72 in his final round, highlighted by three birdies. Freshman Owen Rexing (two birdies) and junior Will Frazier (three birdies) each shot 73s. Senior Matthew Garside (two birdies) shot 74. Junior Matthew Armstrong (two birdies) shot 77.
Garside shared 18th place at 227; Armstrong shared 20th place at 228; Frazier shared 25th place at 229; Raab placed 28th at 230.
Kansas City had Tuesday's best score at 285 and won with a 54-hole total of 885, four shots ahead of defending champion Denver's 889 total. Oral Roberts took third place at 894.
