Newcomer Pratt helps Women finish fifth in Summit T&F

Fargo, N.D. -- Freshman sprinter Alexis Pratt scored in four events -- the 100 and 200 dashes and 4x100 and 4x400 relays, to lead Tommie Women's Track and Field to fifth place on the final day of the Summit League outdoor championship meet.
The three-day competition on the North Dakota State campus concluded Saturday.
Sophomore Molly Desotell ran 17:09.52 for fifth place in the 5,000.
Pratt took fifth in the 200 (24.80) and eighth in the 100 (12.47). She also ran on the 4x100 which clocked a season-best 47.26 with Hannah Cornelius, Pratt, Taynian Walgrave and Cassia Cady.
The Toms' 4x400 relay also had a season best of 3:53.29 with Cornelius, Hailey Hindt, Alicia Belany and Pratt.
Walgrave also took seventh in the 100 hurdles. Hindt placed seventh in the 400 hurdles (63.89).
Team Chase
St. Thomas closed in fifth place out of nine teams with 43 points -- the best women's track and field showing in four indoor or outdoor meets so far in the women's D-I era. In 2021-22, St. Thomas took sixth in the women's indoor and outdoor meets, and in February 2023 they placed seventh.
North Dakota State erased a 40-point deficit in the final day and took first place with 253.8, just ahead of South Dakota (240.5). South Dakota State (120.3), North Dakota (85), St. Thomas (43), Oral Roberts (30), Western Illinois (23), Kansas City 15) and Omaha (7.3) finished No. 3-9.
St. Thomas' best finish of the weekend was a second-place javelin toss by grad student Anna Swanson.
