Raddatz Repeat: Nate's decathlon title leads Men's T&F

Fargo, N.D. -- Junior Nate Raddatz repeated as Summit League decathlon champion here Friday with a career-best score to lead Tommie Men's Track and Field on day two of the conference outdoor championship meet on the North Dakota State campus.
Raddatz fell a tad short of St. Thomas' 28-year-old school record of 7,215 as he scored a career-best 7,157 points over two days in the 10-event decathlon. He set or tied personal bests in six of the 10 events. On Friday he won the 110 hurdles (15.10) and discus (147-10) with personal-bests and also took second in the pole vault (13-9 1-4) and javelin (175-2). On Thursday he placed fourth in the javelin in a career-best 192-0, and contributed 15 team points for his team.
Cameron Schulz placed fifth in the decathlon in a career-best 6,197 points to add four points, as he was second in that event's 1,500, discus and 400 dash.
With eight of 21 events completed, St. Thomas is in fifth place with 25 points. North Dakota State (107), South Dakota State (72) and South Dakota (49) hold the top three team places followed by North Dakota (30), St. Thomas (25), Western Illinois (21), Oral Roberts (six) and Kansas City (two).
The final 13 events will be held Saturday.
St. Thomas' Christian Beamer (6-7) and Grady Clem (6-5) placed 9-11 in the high jump. Shane Aberg placed 10th in the shot put (45-5 3-4).
Six Toms advanced through Friday's prelim races: Eric Douville in the 200 (21.60); Max Gifford in the 800 (1:52.82); Brett Ringer in the 400 (48.23); Carter Maack (14.96) and Sam Duffing (15.07) in the 110 hurdles; and Sam Duffing in the 400 hurdles (55.30).
