ST. PAUL, Minn. -- St. Thomas Women's Basketball assistant coach Brian Silk announced Thursday that he is stepping away from the program.
"I am extremely blessed for the time I've spent at the University of St. Thomas," Silk said. "It's been an honor working with the amazing people in the Tommie community and the dedicated student-athletes. Roll Toms!"
Silk has been with the program over the past 10 seasons as an assistant on head coach Ruth Sinn's staff, including a promotion to full-time assistant during the transition from NCAA Division III to Division I in August of 2021.
Silk helped the Tommies average over 27 wins through his first seven seasons, including trips to the NCAA Championship over the first six seasons. St. Thomas averaged nearly three wins in the NCAA Championships over those six seasons and brought home the first postseason victory of the DI era in March 2023. Silk also assisted in the development of St. Thomas All-Americans Maggie Weiers, Kaitlin Langer, and Hannah Spaulding.
"Brian has been with us at St. Thomas for almost a decade and we want to thank him for all he has given to our women's basketball program and our athletic department," head coach Ruth Sinn said. "He has been instrumental in building our women's basketball program with his knowledge and understanding, but more importantly how he epitomizes our St. Thomas standards. He is a person of encounter and makes everyone he comes in contact feel worth and valued! We thank Brian for all he has given to us, our students, our staff, and our university. He will be missed!"
